Giraud-Teulon'sbinocular ophthalmoscope / Ca 1870-80
Rectangular laquered brass box contains two glass rhombic prisms; brass set screw controls movement of one prism to adjust for width between observer's eyes; two sets of two thin glass lenses, mounted in brass frames, slide into tracks over prisms; round opening, divided in half vertically and covered by glass lens, is located on opposite side of box from prisms; a round concave glass mirror with oblong opening in center is hinged to underside of box and can be positioned over round opening; cylindrical wood handle threads to brass fitting on underside of box. Leather case has velvet lining. Label inside box "Fabrique 58, rue des orfèvres P. Roulot opticien, magasin Bd Haussmann 33, Paris".
