SUPERB ANTIQUE WINTERHALDER & HOFMEIER (W&H ScH) 1/4 STRIKING MANTEL CLOCK c1900

Made by the world renowned Winterhalder & Hofmeier around the turn of the last century, c1900, this quality clock is of a good size. Not too large as to over power a room, but big enough to form the perfect focal point. It stands 13 inches high, 10 inches wide and 7 inches deep.

The case is of mahogany with finely carved decoration, and a wonderfully curvaceous top that is accentuated with the beautiful upper carved frieze. To the centre sits the silvered dial, behind its sleek brass bezel and convexed glass. The bezel is opened via a discreet button to the right hand side, while black steel hands complete a handsome face.

At the heart of the clock beats the quality 8 day, 1/4 chime, pendulum movement made by W&H Sch. This maker was renowned for the quality of their clocks, this is no exception. It strikes the 1/4 hours on twin coiled gongs, and strikes the number of hours on the hour. It has a glorious rich tone.

Condition: the clock is fully working, keeping good time, and as mentioned, sounding a treat, complete with original pendulum and a key, ready to go. There are the odd knock/scratch to the finish you would expect of a piece 100+ years old, but still presents very well.
