Maker, marks and age: Five plates in this elegant set of 6 bread and butter plates have the green underglaze "Limoges France" white mark number 6 that came into use in 1891. Four have the decorator's mark of Old Abbey/Latrille Frères and 2 have the Tressemane & Vogt T&V magenta bell decorator's mark number 16 that was in use between 1907 and 1919. The magenta mark confirms that the set was produced for the New York department store Sterns.
Design: The pattern - which replacements.com calls TRV284 - features a band of alternating panels of blue and cream accented with clusters of delicate pink and yellow flowers inside a thin geometric band of black and yellow.
Condition: The plates are in overall excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, stains, discoloration, crazing or repairs. All have wear to the gold edges - this is shown in the photos.
Size: The plates are 6 inches wide and together weigh 1 pound 14 ounces.
Please check all the photos very carefully – they are an important part of the description.
