Matching Exceptional Students With Quality Instruments
One of several Buffet Crampon clarinets we are offering for
sale. This is a vintage R13 in Bb. S/n
221XXX puts it at 1982. It is in
excellent condition: body is an aged
billet of grenadilla with a nice, tight grain, a very small chip at the edge of
the middle of the tenon which is just cosmetic and not worth filling, and no
cracks, pins or repairs. Tenons are nice
and square with no wobble between joints.
Plating is about 99.5% intact with little if any wear at all. It’s almost impossible to distinguish between
silver and nickel unless the silver tarnishes or the nickel wears, and this
well-polished with no wear, so I can’t be sure.
It has the grey hue of silver and none of the cloudy nickel look, so I’m
leaning toward silver. It has just been
through the shop where it was bore oiled and had all new pads installed—both joints
in a combination of Ferree’s premium cork and Ferree’s B17 de’Jur
double-bladder, pressed-felt pads. Two tenon
corks replaced. Plays with a very dark
tone and open feel with good intonation across the entire instrument. Includes a Vandoren B45 mouthpiece which is
super flexible for all types of music, and a Vandoren 4-space ReedGard. Comes in the original brown, leather case
with gold hardware minor wear. A great instrument
from a great period in great condition at about $2,500 less than brand new!

We are always happy to consider reasonable offers on our auctions.
Purchases: We strive to be accurate and detailed in our descriptions. If you have any questions or concerns about a listing, please ask questions prior to bidding. Photographs are considered a binding part of an item description.
Shipping: Items are shipped after receipt and clearance of your payment. We try to ship far ahead of the handling time listed in the auction. Note that with international shipping, not all countries provide door-to-door tracking; therefore, buyer assumes full liability for item after leaving the United States.
Returns: We have zero unhappy customers, and we have offered hassle-free returns for almost twenty years. Unfortunately, due to rampant abuse of eBay's automated returns, and since PayPal no longer refunds sales fees, we have had to revise our return policy. (1) If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us PRIOR to initiating a return via eBay and allow us to address your concerns. Many items such as clarinets and oboes come out of adjustment during the shipping process, and can be easily tweaked by your local technician. We are happy to talk you through this process. (2) Items may be returned for any reason at your expense within seven days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price less shipping and eBay fees, which are not refundable. If on receipt we are able to verify the item to be significantly different than described, we will additionally refund original shipping, PayPal fees, and your return shipping to maximum of $30.00.
Non-paying Bidders: We reserve the right to relist or otherwise dispose of any item if payment is not received with three days of the auction close.
