BIRD LAND PRESS No.3 Akira Toriyama Preservation Society
About BIRD LAND PRESS

In the 1980s a group of fans set up a fan club to share information about Akira Toriyama's manga.
This fan club was called the Akira Toriyama Preservation Society.
Initially it was an unofficial fan club, but was later endorsed by Shueisha and Akira Toriyama himself. With the support of Shueisha and Akira Toriyama himself, he was keen to keep in touch with the group and create original content for the fans.
In 1982, a club newsletter called BIRD LAND PRESS was published.
BIRD LAND PRESS was a bi-monthly newsletter for members of the Akira Toriyama Preservation Society.
The press editions are B6 in size and have about 26 pages each. The majority of the covers were designed by Toriyama, as were many of the illustrations that made up the content. The BIRD LAND PRESS edition also contains an interview with Akira Toriyama, reports on his daily life and productions of the time, as well as many other interesting bits of information!
