Grateful Dead ! - or, should I say " Warlocks " Fans !! ... on the 1989 Fall Tour !!! Wow ..... right ? Truly one of the Ultimate ! & Most-Monumental Grateful Dead moments that there ever was ... happening to us Fans right smark-dab in the Huge ! G.D. Touring Year of '89 !!! This is indeed the Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) " Official " Grateful Dead ( " The Warlocks !!! " ) Backstage Pass for the 1989 Fall Tour Show at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia ( VA ) on October 9, 1989 ( 10/9/1989 ) !!! Samson Himself ! " Ripping That Beast ... " - much like Garcia Himself ! did to his Boss OD-1 Distortion Pedal ! Whoa !?! ..... as This ! is indeed the kind of Rock & Roll - and G.D. stuff that this here ( me ! ) humble Dead Fan Lives-for !! Holy-Garcia !?! ... & Holy Good Ol' " Late-1980's " Grateful Dead !!! And so ... while definitely at risk of " restating the obvious " if you were on Dead Tour in Fall '89 - I ask you to just think back to the surrounding details of how Important, Monumental & Massive ! these 1989 Hampton " Stealth " Shows really were. Most of us all collectively had our minds-blown ( completely ! ) by the intensity of the Grateful Dead's performances night after night on the 1989 Summer Tour ... but who would have ever suspected this coming around the corner in the Fall ?!? If you lived in the East Coast, or more specifically the Mid-Atlantic during this time, you are well aware of how crazy & out of control the Dead Show ' goer ' scene & parking-lot scene was getting to be for the surrounding communities. The " Hoards of Ticketless Fans " as the Band used to say, were getting to be too much - along with the other assorted illegal problems that we won't get into ... Well, here you have the Hampton Coliseum - one of the Grateful Dead's favorite East Coast Venues, just getting to the tip of the boiling point with these problems, and the venue management & local authorities simply had enough. But, the G.D. Family, Staff & even the Band ! went to bat ( real-hard ! ) on Hampton Shows to try to save it for all. In '86 a ticket-info sheet & parking-lot flyer Begged ! the fans to behave so the band wouldn't be banned from Hampton. In '87 the regional promoter actually grabbed the stage-mic before the Show and personally-pleaded with the Fans. But - it still wasn't enough, unfortunately. So, the Dead did it the only way they could - and that was by running ' un ' pre-announced ' stealth-shows ' for the Hampton Coliseum where regional tickets were only sold shortly before the show at local ticket outlets. The Venue then agreed to this strategy, and the 1989 Fall Tours were actually able to happen !! This led to the Band even applying an old ' prankster-style ' trick by actually announcing & booking these Shows in pure " Stealth " format - as being performed by the " The Warlocks " and not ' The Grateful Dead '. And my goodness, as that certainly wasn't the only trick the Good Ol' Grateful Dead had up their collective-sleeves .... as those Dead Fans who were so fortunate to make it happen and ' get-in ' to this Show, were treated to not only Garcia plugging-in the recently midi-customized Irwin Wolf ! - but were also treated to some of the most celestial Grateful Dead performances in Years ! with song-kickdown ! after song-kickdown !! straight from the Good Ol' Grateful Dead Vault !!! We are talking here ( as I'm sure you already likely know ... ) about the return of Attics Of My Life ! -- Help > Slip ! > Franklin's !! -- & even Dark Star !!!!! The " 1st " returns of these Fan ( & Band ! ) favorites to the Bands repertoire & live song-rotation since 1985, 1972 & 1984 respectively ! We are also talking about mind-blowing performances both nights, also getting the likes of Death Don't Have No Mercy - We Bid You Goodnight, and it just goes on & on ... These folks, were some of the most important Grateful Dead nights of all-time - in the opinion of many, many Dead Fans. The Boys were simply on-Fire !!! - they meant business ( pure-business ... ) - and this blistering hot " Brent " unit continued to bring the Heat !! night-after-night & run-after-run all the way through the end of the 1990 Summer Tour ! This was a Magical-Time !, my fellow Dead Fans, and I'm proud to offer the Original ( ... & Ultra-Rare !!! ) '89 Fall Tour Hampton ... " Warlocks " Grateful Dead Backstage Pass. So-" Stealth " in fact, my fellow Dead Fan Friends ... that as you can see in the photos - this Show was So-Stealth ... that Grateful Dead Productions did not even have the Venue, or City / State printed on this Backstage Pass ... just " October 9, 1989 " - in Super-Stealth & Good Ol' Prankster ! Fashion ... and too, you know - just to make certain that the Cat was not let out of the bag ... Ha ! -- as they knew it was safe to leave that to Garcia ! ... & Wolf !!! on 10/9/89 in the Spaceship Hampton !!! Earth-to-Hampton ! ... We Have Lift-Off !!! . . . in the form of " Death Don't ! " - " Attics !! " - & ..... " Dark Star !!! " !!!!! Wow ... 10/9/89 Hampton Coliseum - in the right place, on the right planet, and at the-right-time ... Enjoy !!!!!
