" Absolutely - Quintessential !! " ( Legendary !!! ) Grateful Dead from February 1970 at Bill Graham's Fillmore East in New York City !!!!!

This Dick's Picks # 4 release from 2/13-14/1970 at the Fillmore East is a viable candidate for " Most Important Performances in Rock 'n Roll History " Award.  And That ! my fellow Fans ... is totally No-Joke !!  This event marks the Grateful Dead & The Allman Brothers duking it out in a friendly no-holds-barred live concert event at Bill Graham's Fillmore East in New York City.  Right during Rock n' Roll's Prime ! - and also the Primes ( arguably ... ) for each of these Historic ! Bands.  At this specific time & era, these guys are simply inventing & strongly pushing the boundaries on how Rock 'n Roll is supposed to be played properly - in the Improvisational Live Format!  These were immaculate performances by both bands on this very special Feb. '70 night.  The Dead deliver what many consider to be the ' Quintessential ' Dark Star ! during this fine night - and the delivery all throughout their performance is heavy & hard.  For me personally, growing up as a kid - this was "" The "" Dark Star !!! that all-others were measured up to.  Mind-blowing, and yet - so eloquent & beautiful too.  This nothing short of Legendary ! Show fits right in the " Workingman's Dead " era & time-period - so you have brilliant electric-deliveries of fresh new songs ( eventually true-classics ! ) that could really go both ways - either acoustic, or electric.  You are treated to both High Time & Dire Wolf in subtle electric fashion, but you are ( & will be ) electrified by the musical-pushes of the Band in heavy tunes in the likes of Alligator - Not Fade Away ( true 70's style ! ) and last, but definitely not least ... Mason's Children > Caution > Feedback > Bid You Goodnight !!!!  The stars all-aligned on this night for our beloved Grateful Dead - and the Dead Fans who were there !  Straight as an Arrow !! - and out to the Moon !!! . . . Dark Star !!!!!!!
