Partially renamed QSA

A genuine QSA issued to a man that served on HMS Magicienne in the Boer war, South Africa. The HMS Magicienne naming is correct, the WG Carter SBA appears to be renamed. Maybe he thought he was entitled to the medal, maybe he lost his, maybe a Walt, there’s a story there somewhere, I’ve not even attempted to research this one as for whatever reason it’s a partial rename in my opinion and outside my theme. His rate is sick berth attendant SBA.

Please look at the pictures and make your own mind up. A damn shame the original recipient is now unknown. It’s possible it’s an official rename but I don’t think so, perhaps someone who is more knowledgeable about the QSA is better placed to comment, but for the avoidance of doubt I’m selling this as the WG Carter SBA part of naming on this genuine HMS Magicienne medal is renamed.
