Bob Weir / Grateful Dead : Ratdog Live At Roseland Theater : April 25 & 26, 2001 ( 4/25/2001 & 4/26/2001 ) : Portland, Oregon ( OR ) : 2001 : 2001 (2001/2001) Grateful Dead Productions ( 2001 GDP, Inc. ) release - GDCD 4082 : 2 CD Set : Out of Print ! : Very-Rare !! ... & Hot !!!

Bobby Weir Fans !! ...  Deadheads ! - and Fans of ' The-Dog ' !!!  Now, let me tell you here - as this sweet little rarity here is indeed one that you cannot let escape you for any longer !  Because people ... This ! is some Hot ! Dog !!!  Whoa !?!!  And, fortunately for me ... I was inside the House for Both ! of these 4/25 & 4/26 Portland, Oregon Shows - at the Roseland !!!  Yeah ... the Rose City !  And, I'm also happy to say that I haven't missed a single Bobby Weir Show in Oregon - since the Grateful Dead stopped playing in 1995.  In fact, the last one I did-miss ... was the Weir & Wasserman Show at the La Luna ! -- in like 1991 !  And ... come to think of it too, I don't think I've missed Weir in the entire state of Washington either, dating back to the Good Ol' G.D. Daze.  So - Yeah !!  This guy has had the Pacific Northwest Covered ! ... when it comes to Bobby Ace !!  And so ... my point being ?  These 2001 Shows were Strong !!!!!  They were the ' Tour-Closers ' in fact, and you could just feel it in the sticky ( & smokey ! ) Roseland Theater Air ! that Bob & Co. had it goin' on.  And too, just take a sec to put the ' timing ' in perspective ( 2001 ! ) - and you too can relate to just how Grate! it felt to hear, say ... Mission In The Rain !  And, yeah too ... you bet it was Raining Outside !!  OryGun, and all ... Ha !  But, you know - as this was still " That-Period " only 6-years after the Band stopped playing, and it was a way-interesting time, not only in seeing how all of the various G.D. members projects would evolve, but also ... how the Material & the Songs ! would evolve too ?!  And Weir ?!  Wow ... as he was just hitting the Nail right ! on the Head !!  I mean this really-was a ' Peak ' Era for this Ratdog unit, if you had to specifically pick-one.  And, as we all know ... it was the tail-end too of Wasserman in the band, which you know -- how can that loss not really hurt & all - ( R.I.P. - RW ! ).  But, the creativity ! in the deliveries of these Songs at these Shows ? ... Wow.  as it was just impressive !!  And, Weir was seriously getting after it too - which, really pushed not only the Band ... but, the limits of the Crowd too !  And, trust me ... way back in 2001 ?  This City was just Filled !! with Deadheads - big time.  So, for the West Coast at least -- there really could be no better place for Bob & Co. to close up this 2001 Spring Tour.  And .. .. .. They Delivered BIG !!!  Heck, they even did a ' Group ' Appearance & Signing at Music Millennium over on SE Burnside Street - and ... they probably got talked into that somehow, and had no-idea what was coming !!  Ha !  I was there ... and it was a Total! Mob-Scene !!!  Like every single Deadhead in Multnomah County & way-way beyond had like there Entire ! Vinyl Collection in their hands - for Weir to Sign !!!  Dang, as it was pretty-funny, thinking back & all.  He was a true-sport about it, but it was just a nuts ! scene, that of course ... had like no organization or control.  He looked pretty taxed after that action, but you know ... it's Bob - being just a Cool ! as he can be, to make a Fans day.  And, I remember thinking - dang, and they've got to play tonight ?!?  And, my goodness - did they even surprise me ?!?  I couldn't have even asked! for more at the 4/25 Show... and then on 4/26 ?!! -- they just Crushed !!! it.  And, I'm talking huge-stuff.  This was maybe even beyond the 1996 Eugene stuff that I always really personally treasured - say at Veneta, and at the Hilton Ballroom too !  So ... this here was a Brilliant ! decision to release action from this P-Town run.  And, the selections are way-impressive too - seeing as how Weir and the powers that be decided to pro-release a 2-CD Set.  Man oh man ... as it must have been Tough ! taking these 2-Shows to the chopping block, and deciding what to edit.  But, they did a really stellar job, for certain.  And ... seal of Dead ( Dog ! ) Fan Approval ! I say.  Plus, how many Ratdog pro-releases were there ever made ?  And ... released on the Grateful Dead Productions ( GDCD ) label ??!  With Gary Houston ( Portlander ! ) Cover Art !!  So-nice ...  Point being all across the board ?  Yep ... this one is a Tried & True Live-Music !! Treasure !!!  Enjoy !!!!!
