These switches are the Original Lionel bullet proof O22 switches that we have modified to work perfectly with your Super O Layout. Only catch is you will need to add a !/4" chunk of plywood, or hardboard under the adjoining super O tracks to match the slightly higher O22 switch design. The pins installed all match your super O tracks.
Why bother? While really attractive, the original super O remote control switches are really scarce, and there are almost no repair parts available for them. The indicators were poor and did not have the ability to operate the switch manually as well as remotely. The curve radius is slightly different but can be used, with a little wiggle room.
These switches include our brand new blue button controller, which is really neat. The toggle switches have been upgraded to extra long momentary switches that function exactly the same as the original flip lever switches. The switch position indicators are extra large bright LED's. The button in the center of the controller is an on/off push button switch that can be used for a spur power control, or anything else you may wish to be able to turn something on or off. When you push the button to on it lights up with an internal led. The output power wire for this switch has 3 additional wires that are not hooked up to anything to be used for whatever you wish, As we all know, our layouts seem to always be adding "babies", so why not install a few extra wires for just in casers.
Below is a list of ok, what do we do with these guys.
· All LED lights vs lamp bulbs, why? they will last almost
forever, (especially ours because of the way we wire them and install
additional components for the LED's). That plus they draw less then 10% of the
current that a normal light bulb draws. Important? Very, especially if you
start adding a lot of switches. I had 36 switches on my layout and
had to add a separate transformer just to run them. Our controller LED's are
all oversize and while very bright, are easy on the eyes. You will
also never have an issue of heat destroying the lanterns, or damaging the
controllers.
· Each controller comes with a minimum of 8' of no rot vinyl cord between the controller and the switch. This year we are offering as an option, 25' heavy duty cable
· Each switch will come with our advanced power plugs (previously known as bootstraps) that not only provide constant accessory voltage to the switch and light circuits, but also supply an additional center rail power tap.
·
All of our switches now come with a
2 year no bs warranty.
· All of our switches will be shipped
with our new stainless steel pins and the fiber insulators for the no de-rail
feature.
So
what does "reconditioned" really mean?
Obviously,
we purchase our switches from a wide variety of sources, and of course every
one of them is in perfect condition according to the sellers, especially from
train shows. After doing this as long as we have and having reconditioned hundreds,
or maybe thousands if we include the O27's. Guess what, we never even ask about
the condition, because each and every one of them will go thru our complete
process.
What
that means is that each and every single switch is completely
stripped down, checked for proper smooth operation under a much lower power
than you will use. It means the electrical contacts are cleaned and polished,
and under no circumstances any chemicals of any kind are used on any electrical
connection point. Yes sometimes a squirt of WD40 will make a non-working switch
operate, hopefully long enough for the customer to receive delivery of the
switch. The problem is oils attract dirt and grime, and often will cause the
switch to malfunction, in some cases after just a very few uses. The switch
contacts are sterling silver and are designed to operate without any additional
lubrication. The Electrical contacts are all checked for a tight
contacts and if necessary adjusted to achieve a solid connections throughout.
The incandescent bulb is replaced with a straw hat LED and associated
circuitry. Note those bulbs that you can buy to directly screw or turn
into the sockets. They will not last. How do I know that, it seemed like such a
good idea , we tried them, and ended up replacing several hundred, properly
done. No oil or other chemicals are used on any electrical switch
contacts. Oil attract dirt and grime and eventually cause problems. We do
Lubricate very carefully the gear assemblies of the switches.
·
All functions of the no d-rail
features are checked and double checked to insure proper operation. While the
switch is apart the actual switch is hand scrubbed and finally the rails
polished, using our new cleaning process. The switch is then final
assembled and retested again for proper operation.
Our team
takes a lot of pride in providing the best quality switches, transformers and
track for our fellow hobbyists. That also means we cannot be the cheapest out
there, and you know what? we really don't care, we only want to be the
best. When your great great grandchildren open up those totes in the
attic/basement, I can be pretty sure, as with everything we sell, with a
minimum amount of care will work just fine! Last year we sold hundreds of these
switches and have not had one single switch returned due to any defects! Not
bad eh?
And that’s
why we can give you a no bs 2 year 100% guarantee on everything we
sell.
A
word or two about the controllers. You will see in the picture of our new
custom made controller that will work perfectly with these switches. We will be
having a separate listing showing only that controller,
This new controller has Large Red and Green LED's which will indicate the position of the switch. The LED’s will change automatically when the no d rail feature is activated. Each controller will control 2 separate switches. There are 2 toggle switches (one for each switch) to operate switch change plus the large “center push button previously discussed.. You can change one switch or both at the same time if you wish. If you are old school and prefer the original LIONEL flip lever switches we have them also, in a different listing. We also provide the advanced power plugs (shown in px) at no additional charge. As discussed there are 2 additional switches installed on the outside edges of the control and 2 additional wires that go to power the center rail of your spur line.
Since
we offered these new controllers they have been very popular, and are frankly a
lot more fun than the factory stock ones. The kids (and yeah the big kids too)
really like the huge LED's and the way the switches work
New this year... All of our TinMan made
controllers come with 8' of cable to reach the switches, special tracks etc.
They are all designed to work with a fixed accessory power from 13 to 20
volts. That’s great as long as we do not try to extend the length any
further than the 8' or so. Some folks have layouts which require a much
longer cable. That is fine except the cable we use for the normal 8' runs is
not heavy enough to handle the additional length. So this year we are
offering an option of a 25' cables from the controllers. These cables are also
a much larger diameter wire which will insure no loss of power over the
extended length. There is no good reason to select the longer cable if you do
not need the extra length. You can select which ever version you like in
the pricing listing option of cable length. If you need longer than 25'
let me know that, this cable will easily work for up to 75'
A word about shipping, We offer a flat rate
shipping cost of $10.00 This means that no matter how many items or quantities
of items you order the shipping cost will never exceed $10.00
And…..please
remember
You don’t grow old from playing with trains, you grow old when
