Airfix Club 1/72 Scale Gloster Meteor FR.Mk.9 Limited Edition Model Kit

Introduction:

You will be bidding on a 1/72 scale model kit of the Gloster Meteor jet fighter. This kit was produced by Airfix and is an example of a limited edition Airfix Club release from 2022. The Gloster Meteor was Britains first jet fighter design to enter service, in the closing stages of the Second World War. The type was continually developed after the war into better performing and more refined variants, and this kit represents an FR.Mk.9. This variant was an armed reconnaissance version based on the F.Mk.8, itself greatly improved over the F.Mk.4 with greater fuel capacity, standard ejection seat, a longer fuselage and a modified tail. The FR.Mk.9 was again modified to carry a camera suite in the nose forward of its armament. 126 examples were produced for the RAF and later sold to Ecuador, Israel and Syria.

This Model Kit:

This model kit is complete and unstarted. All of the parts are still on the sprues and sealed in the original bag. The instructions and decals are in excellent condition, the box has some typical minor shelf wear here and there but otherwise all is as new.

Kit Features and Details:

This kit is moulded in medium grey plastic. It is a very recent new tooling from Airfix and features include very nice engraved panel lines and surface details throughout all appropriate external areas. Cockpit details are superb too with a highly detailed ejection seat along with a tub featuring controls, instruments, gunsight and structural details for a very complete look. The canopy can be built closed or slid open to view it all too. This level of detail is carried through the whole build and other features include engine fan and jet pipe details with ducting, detailed undercarriage with boxed off bays containing more detailing and the option of having the gear raised or lowered, separate positionable flight control surfaces, clear nose panels to create the camera ports associated with the FR.9 variant and a variety of other smaller details and fittings to complete the model. Looks like it will build into a great looking, highly detailed scale replica of this interesting Meteor variant.
