Description:
Please find for offer an excellent Scottish portrait painting of a gentleman in an interior setting, dating to circa 1830, indistinctly signed lower left. Oil on canvas and housed in a later (20th C) swept gilt frame. The painting depicts a full-length portrait of a gentleman dressed in a tartan suit, sitting smoking a long clay pipe with arm resting on a table with a wrap of pipe tobacco, a silver rimmed horn beaker, an ewer and another clay pipe partially resting on a tartan shawl. On the floor rests the gentleman's top hat next to a couple of large jugs. This is a lovely quality painting painting that is full of detail and has a lot of charm.

Condition:
Canvas has been relined. Small touch-in/repair to the left wrist area of the jacket. Some slight surface wear in places. Frame has a small/minor loss to right side of the edge and lower right corner. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good ready to hang condition. Please examine photos carefully.
