NEW & TAGGED
I
needed (wanted) a new bike jacket & jeans – my old RST Kevlar cargo pants
were showing their age & I just wanted a new jacket. I’d never heard of Saint before I stumbled
across their website – read some bike reviews & decided to ship a set over
– treated myself to the adventure shirt as well. They arrived in a couple of weeks – they were
shipped from Australia - & I had to pay import duty !!
Excitedly
tried them on – & realised that I’d ordered the wrong sizes. I ordered the XL pants & jacket & L
shirt – should have been the other way round.
I’m a 36” normally and these fall off me whilst they’re buttoned up. My own fault – I should have believed their
size chart – but in all fairness, why sell a pair of pants as a 36”, but make
them as a 38” ???. Contacted Saint who
were happy to exchange them for me – however, as the cost of sending them back
was extortionate (over £50) & another two weeks wait in both directions, I
just ordered another full set.
The
second set fit great. After using them
for almost a year, I have to say that they’re probably the best set of biking
gear I’ve ever owned. They’re made of
an extremely heavy duty waxed cotton – when you first wear them, they feel like
you’re in a strait jacket, but once they’re bedded in, they feel
fantastic. Waterproof, warm & plenty
of pockets. I’ve owned Barbour &
Belstaff gear in the past, and these are (in my opinion) as good as both of
those
So
I have a spare jacket and cargo pants in X Large & an adventure shirt in
Large. The jacket also has a set of
Saints £30 optional D 30 armour (back & elbow). I paid £425 for the jacket (plus £30 for the
D30), £245 for the pants & £65 for the shirt.
These
are no longer available from Saint – they only sell jeans now.

Australian company Saint has been
instrumental in helping develop a single-layer denim to protect motorcycle
riders from abrasion injuries. Their
“Unbreakable” range of riding jeans, jackets and gloves is made from a special
blend of 34% cotton and 66% Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWP)
that they claim now meets CE standards for six seconds of abrasion resistance
or the equivalent of up to 75m of sliding.
Founded
in 2014 on the back of the question “Why should what you put on in the morning
limit what you do with your day?” Saint’s mission was to create all day wearable
moto apparel that didn’t compromise looks for safety, or safety for
fashion.
Saint
apparel delivers great freedom and form, with world first single layer
protection. With no bulky layers or liners, we provide the very best in
strength and impact abrasion resistant denim, while maintaining a classic
style. We equip you with Unbreakable apparel and celebrate the Unbreakable
human spirit.”
I’ve included the official size chart and I’ve
measured them myself – these are the actual measurements I get from laying them
flat on the floor
Waist To Waist -
19” (48.5 cm)
Hip To Hip – 22.5” (57.5 cm)
Outside Leg Waist To Ankle – 47.5" (120.5 cm)
Inside Leg Crotch To Ankle - 36” (91 cm)
Ankle Side To Side – 8” (20 cm)
(These
sizes are the best I can get using a cloth tape measure)
I’ve included the ankle size as I feel the ankles are a bit tight – but I’m used to wearing really loose legged RST cargo pants that will fit over my Frye engineer boots – these are defo a tuck in the boots style unless you’re wearing sports boots. But if you’re wearing sports boots, you wouldn’t be wearing cargo pants. I’ve had the length of the other pair (the "L" pair I've kept and using) reduced by 3” by a local alterations place – cost me a tenner. They’re now a much better length and not as tight – made a world of difference.
I usually use my own pictures, but in this case, I’ve
used stock pictures as they’re so much better than my own. I’ve included a couple of my own to show the
tags.
