Measuring strips for determining the bearing clearance in plain bearings
Allows for quick and accurate checking of bearing clearance. Plastigage is a thin, calibrated plastic thread that is inserted into the oil-free bearing point for measurement and expands by a certain width when crushed. Do not twist the crankshaft! The bearing clearance can be determined using the scale printed on the packaging. Specify the measurement scale in mm and inches. One measuring strip is 30cm long and is enough for 12 - 15 measurements. Can be used for camshaft, crankshaft and connecting rod bearings where winw feeler gauge is not applicable. The quality of the shaft can be determined by placing the measuring strips in the running direction. Unevenness of the cylinder head sealing surfaces and flange connections can also be determined.
Plastigage is available in 3 different sizesdining areas:
green: for a play range of 0.025mm to 0.076mm
red: for a play range of 0.050mm to 0.150mm
blue: for a play range of 0.102mm to 0.229mm
In the motorcycle and car sector you usually use "green".
