Oxford New English Bible NEB Genuine Cowhide Leather Single Column 5178A

This is a beautiful edition of the NEB. It has a splendid single column format with very readable typeface with extremely opaque paper. Bibles from the 60s and 70s have dramatically higher quality than most commonly published Bibles today. The older Oxfords are no exception to this.

This contains the apocrypha/Deutero-canonical canon.

The leather has a nice, consistent grain to it, almost like Pinseal and of comparable flexibility too, very soft and flexible. I noticed some tiny abrasions to the bottom front cover and possibly to the spine, though it’s in fantastic overall condition.

Like most older Oxford editions, this has fantastic paper opacity. One of the true joys of this particular translation and edition is the single column format that features the verses and chapters outside the text.

The page edges have consistent scratches and I noticed a slight stain that is visible when the pages are fanned out at an angle.

The presentation page is filled. I found no writing elsewhere.

It has a reinforced sewn text block.

Very slightly exposed last signature at the bottom.
