This contemporary piece showcases a haze pattern positioned vertically. It was originally the lining of a luxurious obi. The pattern resembles rainfall, adding an elegant and unique touch to the artwork.

The obi used in this canvas was crafted during the late Showa period (1960-80ies).

The haze pattern featured in this artwork is one of the patterns resembling haze or mist floating in the air. It is created by drawing numerous straight lines horizontally. This technique has been used in paintings since ancient times and is commonly used for landscape patterns in the realms of dyeing and weaving.

Additionally, each piece is enriched with texts of backstory and explanations of the motifs and colors, providing a deeper narrative to the works.

Based on their design and condition, we carefully hand pick materials from among the estimated eight hundred million antique/vintage kimonos that are no longer usable as clothing. We also use paulownia wood taken from discarded wardrobes for framing, contributing to SDG 12 goals and objectives.

For every piece, we use tools and materials specifically designed for silk. Even with the same silk, each fabric has its unique characteristics and embellishments, making each piece one-of-a-kind.
