2 vintage Big Little Books: Charlie McCarthy/E.Bergen (1938) & Dick Tracy (1967)

We offer *two* classic Big Little Books from the mid-20th century, as a set that we believe should not be broken up:

-- "The Story of Charlie McCarthy and Edgar Bergen," by Eleanor Packer, taken "from the Edgar Bergen-Charlie McCarthy radio programs," 282 pages. Features many black-and-white illustrations.

-- "Dick Tracy Encounters Facey," by Paul S. Newman, based on the Chester Gould comic strip, 249 pages. Features many *color* illustrations in the Gould style.

Both hardback books were published by Whitman Publishing Co. of Racine, Wisconsin, and are part of an extraordinarily popular series of books for young people. The 1938 volume is numbered 1456 and the 1967 volume is numbered 2001.

The 1938 copy is, understandably, showing significant shelf and usage wear and bears some tears and chips on the paper jacket. The 1967 copy also shows shelf wear, especially at the corners of the spine. Nonetheless, binding on both books is tight and the paper is tanning but flexible and highly readable.

We are pricing these two books to sell so they can be put quickly into the hands of a discerning admirer/collector.
