Description:

I am selling, fully PAT tested, replacement Christmas bulbs in original holders. Please check the sizes for a match, before you select a quantity, from the pull down for your buying requirements. Manufacturers utilise many standardised bulbs sizes fitted into their own unique holders. These are interchangeable if you match the sizes/V.A.W (volts amps wattage).

Important:

Ensure your set is disconnected from any power supply before attempting to work on them. Whilst removing the bulb & holder from the string sockets, ensure never twist them out. Most bulbs can be replaced simply by removing the bulb and holder from the cable string socket.

Some sets come with removal tool from the set manufacturer. We do supply these upon request (state bulb holder under-lip diameter).

It is essential to compare the Voltage, Amperage, Wattage, marked on the fixed cable label on your light string, near the power plug. Matching our bulbs, before purchasing. If you have no label message us and we can calculate the bulb size giving number of bulbs and power fed to them. i.e 20 bulbs directly plugged into 240v socket will be 240/20 = 12v bulbs.

How to install:

A plastic base has been included with our bulbs, (unless stated otherwise). This base however may not be the exact shape you need, but the bulb is perfect. You can simply interchange bulbs from holders to get round this issue.

Simply bend down carefully each fine wire (making tiny legs) and then grip bulb and holder, gently pull apart. If they are steadfast then add bulb/holder to boiled water for 2 minutes and try again. Careful not to twist. Add the new bulb to you existing holder by reversing the process. Bending back the wires to ensure they are set like an arrow to the sides ( /{}\ ).

Tips on how to get good bulbs working:

Before you order replacements you will need to test your own bulbs. Most common bulb issues have connectivity/contact issues. We have some easy fixes for you to try.

a. Clean the tiny wires - Each bulb has two wires coming out of the holder base. These are the contacts for the bulb to work correctly. Check there are two showing, these are frail and can break easy. The simplest and most effective way to clean these is with 'lemon juice', the pancake squirty type. Dip one index fingertip into neat solution, pat this finger with your thumb. Then touch the wires either-side and draw up to the bulb, going with the wires not against them, release and repeat 4 times. You will see the wires go pinker and shine. You are using the juice to remove the oxidation gently from the wires. Clean excess juice to a dry cloth.

b. Reset the wires to correct positions -  You will note each holder and wires are tight set onto the sides of the holder. This maybe so tight that contact is poor to the socket pins. To reset the wires, slightly bent outwards forming and arrow head style ( /{}\ ) not ( |{}| ). This will make new contact once inserted. Remember never twist bulb in holder.

c. Insert bulb/holder - Firmly insert assembly into an empty string line socket to make a solid connection. Care taken not to break bulb by over-forcing.

d. Testing your bulbs - If you want to test that each bulb is working there are many ways but one simple way is to get a digital multimeter. Set to continuity / diode symbol ( >+ ) then contact each wire to make a circuit. Any value means its good, no reading means broken filament aka blown or failed.

The above advice is given to help you solve issues you many have with your own set. Ensuring what you need is clear and concise. Generally the fuse bulb (white tipped bulb) is the only bulb that should blow, in normal circumstances. If not the case you have an unseated bulb(s) or contact issue(s).

If all is lost then we do provide a 'repair and return' service.
