Fifty-fve years ago, Muhammad Ali starred in the the Broadway musical “Buck White.” The show lasted for only five days, during the period in which Ali had been stripped of his title and banned from boxing for his refusal to join the Army and fight in Vietnam.
Today, it is hard to find any evidence of the show other than his performance of “We Came in Chains” on The Ed Sullivan Show on January 18, 1970.
Music, lyrics and directed by Oscar Brown, Jr. Music arranged by Merl Saunders & Mike Terry

About the Seller:

Proof of Life Nostalgia came about from my own personal connection to music memorabilia, collected over 45 years of loving live music. Attending concerts provided me with countless memories, as well as ticket stubs, photos, hand-written setlists, + the occasional t-shirt or poster.

Pre-internet, learning about upcoming shows was the purview of free weekly alternative newspapers. Each week I’d learn who was coming to town and I'd budget my concert dollars accordingly.

Since original concert posters are prohibitively expensive, I started looking back at an old collection of music newspapers + magazines. I was immediately excited to see the concert ads + feel the thrill of planning to see a particular band or performer. That’s what inspired me to start collecting these ads to make them available to fans.

If you were at this show, or saw that tour, or remember that old club, here’s proof that this event took place - here’s a record that you lived in that moment. Proof of Life Nostalgia
