Thomas Webb English Victorian era Rose bowl is a rare find. With its beautiful blown Opal and Cranberry glass Roses/Cherry blossoms applied to a round shape Opalescent Diamond Optic Vaseline / Uranium glass bowl. The bowl is the classic 8 crimp design crafted in Opalescent hand-blown glass with outstanding Opal Blue and Green tones throughout. The rose or cherry blossom stems and petals are crafted with clear Opalescent glass. Some references call them rose and some cherry blossoms.
Hand-blown in the 1800s, estimated around 1880, this original piece features a production style of vaseline glass, which gives it a striking glowing effect.
The bowl has no chips, flea bites or cloudiness, but there appears to be one flower petal end partially missing, the blossom to the left on its upper left (9:00 o'clock) side.
This came from a Western Oregon Estate and had belonged to the womans Great Grandmother.
This antique Webb treasure showcases the craftsmanship that Thomas Webb as known for, the pontil has been "fire polished" and is very smooth.
