MAURICE LESCAUT

AND CONJUNTO SORRENTO

“ATARDECER EN ROMA”

(EVENING IN ROME)

MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Hi-Fi Stereo very first press released by Coro M.R.I. Discos Kompatible (Coro Kompatible Records), made and distributed in Chile by Salon Musical in 1965, with green/black Coro Kompatible Records labels, catalog number CLP-853, with hand etched matrix numbers CL-P-853-A P2R in Side 1 and CLP-853-B P2R in Side 2. It’s very interesting that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the date of pressing, “24-VII-65” (July 24th of 1965). Yes, Sirs, a nice find from Chile again!!!

“ATARDECER EN ROMA” was part of a serie of records by pianist Maurice Lescaut with the title “Evening in …” released in the ‘60’s, not sure the exact year, but this great album was released here in Chile in 1965 and like in most of the cases of that period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER, made of a single piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle, so 3 sides are open like a gatefold cover, with two sheets of paper attached (glued in the mouth edge) to the cardboard and kept held for a plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork, with the picture of the Roman Forum, with the album title written in Spanish only, with full tracklist, 3 titles in Spanish and all the others written in Italian. Back cover is totally different, it has the promotion for other 24 records of Coro Kompatible catalogue, with titles and catalog number. In labels the album title is written in Spanish only and the tracklist, except for 3 songs written in Spanish, is written in Italian. So, here it’s ANOTHER FIND from Chile, a great album with UNIQUE COVER!!! WOW!!!

Cover is in a great EX or EX+ condition, complete with only very light wear in corners, no rips, no blemishes, no creases, no writings, some light age browning in back cover, no ring marks. The record is in superb EX- or EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with light scuffs and soft hairlines, and some very light scratches hard to see, which don’t affect play. Labels on both sides are in absolute NM- or NM condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear, no writings or marks of any kind. The sound is in strong VG+ or EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), some occasional light crackles here and there, more evident in the silent parts, which don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this album keeps from the beginning to the end!!! I’d recommend a vacuum cleaning anyway. Overall, a RARE record released in Chile, maybe not for Minty minds, but with still a glossy look and still more than respectable and decent sound quality after about 59 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean issue!!! AMAZING FIND FROM CHILE AGAIN!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER, a record to sit, listen and enjoy, which won’t disappoint anyone!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
