Loosely based on his early life, Franco
Zefferelli's delightful film stars Joan Plowright, Maggie Smith, Judi
Dench, Cher and Lily Tomlin as a loose-knit group of gentile lady
ex-pats who adopt the illegitimate young Luca and haunt the art world
and cafes of Florence, oblivious to the rise of Mussolini's fascists.
Then the war starts to impinge on their lives and they find themselves
