VEG TANNED KANGAROO TAIL LEATHER .

About 450mm long x 100 wide at the extremities.
Approx. 0.7 to 0.9 mm thick.
Can be used for any craft project.

Your leather will be sent to you folded to fit in a B$ size envelope.
If you want it sent on a stiff backing to avoid creasing in the post, please ask me before paying.

The quoted dimensions are not precise.
They may well be slightly less.

This leather is quite strong but may not be strong enough for items requiring high tensile strength such as whip or belt lace.
It is quite suited to any item where great strength is not required.

This is NOT one you will get.
The finish is veg tanned natural grain.
Drum dyed BLACK.

There are some surface marks and discolorations because It is leather from the wild.
It is ideal for making strops. The marks make no difference to the performance of the strop.
Can be used for most craft projects not requiring great strength.

Kangaroo hide is a 100% renewable and sustainable resource. Before harvest no chemical dips, sprays or drenches of any kind are ever used to aid production. Unlike some suppliers, we freeze our hides (rather than use fortified hide salt) at the point of harvest in order to avoid preservative chemicals. Thereafter the only treatment is the actual tanning to make the leather.

I made two pads from the 50 x 300 Kangaroo tail to fit on the fixed angle guide.
Now as I sharpen and then strop my knives on the fixed angle guide I use the back or pulling method.
And wow, it is much more refined and holds the edge longer and its like I have power steering on my knife.

My sharpening skills are improving but finishing the blade on that leather feels great and blade performs beautifully.

This leather was obtained totally lawfully under a strict programme administered by Queensland Department of Environment and Science (DES) who govern licencing & codes of practice.
Skinned accurately by professionals.
Tanned by a professional commercial tannery licenced under DES Qld rules to legally deal in Kangaroo.
Usually the DES quota is around 10% of the assessed plague numbers, and around half that is actually harvested.
Only species subject to habitat-threatening overpopulation are allowed in the DES program. 
This strip is not reject grade or from unwanted stock, like some listed on eBay.
