Lovely, interior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern, PA. The
door is made of either solid Douglas Fir or pine and is completely painted on both sides. It
has a traditional, Victorian style design with 4 raised, vertical panels on
both sides.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft
wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the
same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old
pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine.
Hardware: The door is not equipped with hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware in our
online store, and tons more in our physical store.

Condition:
The door is strong, sturdy, and in great structural condition. It only has nicks
and scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will
disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks."
Swing: The
hinge mortises span the thickness of the door, allowing you to define its swing,
and install your hinges on either side.
Modification: Do you
want to replace the panels with glass, screen/mesh, or something else? We could
modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could trim or add to the height or width, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and
we'll give you a quote.
