Unique Bamboo Dan Moi Jaw Harp Mouth Jews Asian Music Instrument - Large

Item Description

The Angkuoch is a robust mouth harp made of bamboo with a forceful and clear sound. It is easy and fun to play.

The bamboo Jaw Harp has a long tradition in Southeast Asia and was often played in the villages.  It is said that in earlier times, young men and women flirted with their sweethearts through the angkuoch. People also played the little instrument to pass the time or simply to relax.

The Dan Moi is the traditional jew's harp of the Vietnamese mountain people Hmong.

Hand-made by a family of makers of Vietnamese instruments in Hanoi, this bamboo instrument captivates even novices by being easily playable and having a brilliant sound, rich in overtones. We personally met the makers of these instruments and have worked with them over the last 15years to support fair trade business.

These come in different shapes and sizes as they are hand made from natural materials, however we have 3 general sizes:

Small : approx 16cm long

Medium: approx 22cm long

Large: approx 26cm long
