This is the
sale catalogue of The Jewels of the late Duchess of Windsor sold for the
Benefit of the Pasteur Institute, 2-3 April 1987 in Geneva, Switzerland. Sotheby’s
offered for sale the perhaps most anticipated collection of jewellery of the
century -- the collection of the late Duchess of Windsor, formerly Wallis
Simpson, the woman for whom King Edward VIII renounced the British throne and
Empire in 1936. This exquisite catalogue details much more than the incredible
jewels which reflected the depth of Edward's love for Wallis; it is actually a
fully researched presentation of their fascinating story. A never to be
repeated or reprinted opportunity to see Wallis's entire collection (later
sales contained far fewer items) and many items belonging to the Duke. Of
interest to historians, Royalists and fashion experts as much as jewellers and
designers, this is a remarkable volume.
