Here's a nice piece of presidential campaign material from the 1888 election.  Made out of brass or bronze this @ 13/16" medal promotes the republican presidential candidate, Benjamin Harrison.

Harrison was the grandson of the 1840 election winner, Whig President William Henry Harrison who died in office just a month after being inaugurated. Ben had unfortunate luck, too.

Grover Cleveland first ran for president in 1884 against republican James Blaine and he won. His vice-president, Thomas Hendricks died in office so, when he ran for reelection in 1888, Grover picked former Ohio U.S. Senator Allen Thurman and ran against Benjamin Harrison and his running mate Levi Morton. Harrison prevailed in the Electoral College even though Grover had received more popular votes.

So, then Grover took him on when Harrison ran again in 1892, with Adlai Stevenson as a running-mate for Grover and Whitelaw Reid as Ben's second running mate. And this time Grover beat the sitting president. Which is why Cleveland is the only president in our history to get two terms which were non-consecutive. We'll see if history repeats itself in 2024.
