Up For Sale is an Original 2 Minute Edison Recorder with an Original Box. The Nickel Plating is Like New! There is a good cutting sapphire on it. These were used to make your own recordings 110+ years ago if you had one of the Antique Wind-Up Edison Phonographs that play the 2 minute Cylinder Records that were made of Wax. You had to use a shaving attachment that came with many of the earliest of machines, to cut a used wax cylinder record smooth first and then you could record into the horn on that same cylinder record. Edison also sold Edison Recording Blanks that were already molded with a smooth, glass-like finish on them and then you could just use one of these Recorders to record direct onto one of those. What you are recording needs to be played or sung quite loud into the horn to do a recording, otherwise it won't play back very loud. It was probably more of a novelty back then, than it was a practical application, but it does work, if it's done properly. I've been told that the brown wax cylinders tended to result in a better home recording, since they were a softer wax composition. Please be sure and check out the other Antique Phonograph and RCA Victor "Nipper" Dog items that I am also offering for sale on eBay at this time. Thanks for looking!
