This art pottery plate is by Glit of Iceland. They operated in Reykjavik from 1958 until 1971, when they moved to another town in Iceland. The Lava pieces are early Glit, made in the first 10 years they operated. This is a large wall plate, measuring about 10 1/8" in diameter. It is quite heavy, weighing over 3 pounds. There is a thick wire in the holes on the back for hanging the plate. The glaze to the front is light green, and there is red and brown where the textured lava is. It's a beautiful piece of mid-century art pottery. There are no chips, cracks or damage, and minor wear. Please see my pictures and thank you for looking!
