Jacobs No.1A Drill Chuck

on a JT1/ 7/32" Dia Arbor

This is a very nice free running drill chuck more than capable of securely gripping No. Series Drill Bits.   The Jaws are in very good condition as shown by Photos #3 & #4.  Prior to listing the chuck was stripped, as shown in Photo #5, cleaned and then re-assembled with the Half Rings greased and the Jaws very lightly oiled. 

The photographs form the main part of the description, but attention should be focused on the following, 

1)  all the teeth on the Sleeve are present and fully functional and any wear commensurate with the age of the chuck, as shown in Photo #7.    

2)  the good condition of the threads on the Half Rings which drive the Jaws as shown in Photo #8.

3)  the good condition of the 3 Jaws as shown in Photos #9, #10, #11, #12 & #13, this showing the nice clean parallel contact faces of the Jaws, providing a defined triangular star at the front faces of the jaws, as shown by Photo #3 & #4.   

4)  the clean back face of the Chuck and it's JT1 taper socket, is shown by Photo #16 and into which the JT1 / 7/32" Dia Straight Arbor is located.  

5)  a new Chuck Key is provided, as shown by Photo #18. 

If this chuck is regularly cleaned and maintained it should last for another few decades.
