This lens is well-used and is in good cosmetic condition,
The bad bit
There is unfortunately the very common problem of balsam separation in the cemented element at the rear of the aperture, This is a common problem with this lens, and it is not really possible to fix.you can see it in image 5 and better in image 6
The good bits
The aperture is clean and snappy, the aperture ring moves freely and locks in position at f22,The MF and AF work fine, the zoom is free and easy, the rest of the glass has been stripped and cleaned and is in very nice condition with no fungus and minimal dust.I have tidied up the front lens retaining rings as they had been left looking very marked after a previous attempt to remove them I have blacked them with chinese ink, not that long lasting but better than felt tip pen that some people use!
The IQ is very good still, there is a slight loss of contrast now and then but nothing that cannot be fixed PP.
The psuedo Macro function that works at 35mm is very good and it is a shame that more modern zooms do not have this ability.
Most images and crops at f7.1 except smoke detector, lens plus crops at 70mm f2.8.and landscape and crops at 35mm f2.8, The brass kingfisher at 35mm f2.8 and 5.6
Think that is about all I can say
