A fine, original 19th century French School three-quarter length portrait of a young lady, painted outdoors in an oval composition, set in a vintage gilt frame. Several extensive, old handwritten inscriptions are attached to the verso. The work may possibly have connections to the French portrait painter Jacques Guillaume Lucien Amans (1801–1888), who worked in New Orleans in the 1840/50s.
The work is in a very good antique condition overall. The surface shows fine patterns of craquelure and tiny dotted texture running throughout. The frame is in excellent condition with some signs of age and is is ready to hang.
