The sets were excellent and colourfull, and had early 20th Century period style rooms, and the costumes were in period 1905 fashion.

The dialogue was updated for a modern audience with the English lyrics Richard Thomas and the English book by April de Angelis, with some relevant issues to today's political situation.  The best scene was during the famous walz when   was lowered down the stage on a crescent moon.

The orchestral playing by the English National Opera London Coliseum orchestra was excellent, along with the singing with Sarah Tynan as the merry Wido, following on from her appearance as Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Andrew Shaw as the Baron Zeta, and others, the musical parts which were sung in English translation.
