Hasegawa 1/72 Scale Brewster F2A-2 Buffalo US Navy Model Kit

Introduction:

You will be bidding on a 1/72 scale model kit of the Brewster F2A Buffalo carrier fighter aircraft. This kit was produced by Hasegawa. The F2A Buffalo was a late 1930s US fighter design which saw service early in the Second World War. It was one of the first US monoplanes to be fitted with an arrestor hook and other modifications for operations from aircraft carriers. The type was ordered and used in combat by several nations in the early stages of WW2 including Belgium, Britain, Holland and Finland. Relatively obsolete by the first few years of the war, the type suffered heavy losses in combat with British and Dutch forces against the Japanese A6M Zero fighters in South East Asia. The type was used with great success by Finland in the Continuation War against the Soviet Union however, achieving an impressive kill to loss ratio against most Soviet designs fielded.

This Model Kit:

This model kit is complete and unstarted. All parts are still on the sprues and in the original bags. Instructions and decals are in good condition, the box is in good shape too and just has some typical minor shelf wear here and there.

Kit Features and Details:

This kit is moulded grey plastic. External details are very good with fine engraved panel lines throughout all appropriate external surfaces. The cockpit includes a seat with floor which forms part of the wing spar, an instrument panel with decal supplied, control column and rudder bar, structural detailing in the strengthened section behind the pilots seat and it comes with a multi part clear canopy that could be built open or closed and a clear lower section for downward visibility is also reproduced on the underside. Other features include detailed undercarriage which can be built raised or lowered and has boxed off bays with structural details inside, nice cylinder details with a separate cowling ring and a number of other smaller fittings and parts to complete the build. A nice kit that should build into a great looking model of this generally underrated early WW2 fighter throughout.
