Airfix 1/48 Scale Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XII Model Kit plus Montex Canopy Mask Set

Introduction:

You will be bidding on a 1/48 scale model kit of the Supermarine Spitfire. This kit was produced by Airfix. A canopy mask to assist with painting is also included as an extra, produced by Montex. The legendary Spitfire needs little introduction I’m sure as one of the most iconic military aircraft of the Second World War and in history. This kit depicts the Spitfire Mk.XII variant which was the first production version to depart from the famous Rolls Royce Merlin engine, being fitted with the Rolls Royce Griffon power plant. This gave the type superb low and medium level performance, and at lower altitudes the Mk.XII was one of the fastest aircraft in the world upon its introduction. The type equipped two squadrons and proved particularly useful towards the end of its frontline service life in the pursuit of the V1 flyingqombs being launched at Southern England from summer 1944.

This Model Kit:

This model kit is complete and unstarted. All of the parts are still sealed in the original plastic bag. Instructions and decals are in great condition. The box is in good shape and condition too with just some typical minor shelf wear and squashing here and there, all pretty much like new. The Montex canopy mask set is like new and ready to use too.

Kit Features and Details:

This kit is moulded in grey plastic. Details include fine engraved panel lines and surface details throughout all appropriate external surfaces. It comes with some nice cockpit interior details too which include a detailed seat, bulkheads, stick and rudder pedals on rails, a reflector gunsight, instrument panel, a pilot figure and internal structural details on the interior walls, very complete looking. A multi part cockpit canopy that can be built open or closed is also provided (a canopy mask is also included to assist in the accurate painting of this). Other features include detailed undercarriage with gear bay details which can be built raised or lowered, detailed separate exhaust stacks, separate positionable flight control surfaces throughout including split flaps with interior rib detailing, an optional centreline slipper fuel tank and a number of other smaller fittings and details to complete the build. Looks like it will build into a very nice model of one of the faster versions of this legendary aircraft design.
