DC Comics - 1989 Batmobile 1oz Silver Coin

As the 1989 Batman™ film brought a darker tone to the iconic character, so the 1989 Batmobile was designed with a new take on the series in mind. It was built on a Chevrolet Impala chassis but had a long and low sculptured body with a massive engine in the back. This version took on the appearance of a car designed for drag racing - as if it was ready to break the sound barrier! The model was designed to impress and is still a favourite among fans.

Along with its speed and new look, the vehicle had even more modifications — so it was always prepared for a fight. This Batmobile had retractable shielding, self-driving and machine guns all incorporated into the vehicle. Additionally, the Batmobile featured shin breakers on the sides, bombs, disc launchers and an implement that could lift the car and let it turn 180 degrees on a dime. It was such a hit that in the next movie, Batman Returns™, they simply used the same Batmobile!

The coin is placed in a magnetised acrylic block so it can be easily displayed. The lid snaps off easily so you can remove and admire the coin close-up. The outer box is also themed and features the BATMAN™ logo on the top and more BATMAN imagery on the base. Inside the box you’ll also find a Certificate of Authenticity confirming the coin as one of only 2,000 available worldwide.

This is the second in our DC officially licensed Batmobile 1oz Silver Coin Collection, so if you picked up the first coin in collection, don’t miss out on this one! But hurry! Only 2,000 of these striking coins featuring the 1989 Batmobile will be produced.
