Douglass Harvey Barnett was born in Nottingham, England and had prior service of 6 years with the Royal Fusiliers and 1 year with the 6th Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles. Attesting at Vancouver, B.C. on 9 Nov 1914 he served as a Staff Captain with the 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade during the Great War. On 23.6.1917 he was appointed Deputy Asst. Q.M. General. He also received (2) Mention in Dispatches awards per The London Gazette 06.01.1917 and 28.5.18. His address is given as 22 New Church Road, Hove, Sussex on his M.C. award card.
