Description:
Please find for offer a wonderful Victorian spelling game, dating to the second half of the 19th century. Comprised of 213 card tiles with printed letters contained in the original compartmentalised wooden box with hinged lid. The printed label on the interior of the lid reads: “A new and amusing social game for orthographical recreations.”.
There are the following number of letters:
A: 11. B: 9. C: 10. D: 13. E: 10. F: 8. G: 11. H: 7. I: 10. J: 7. K: 5. L: 11. M: 9. N: 7. O: 11. P: 8. Q: 9. R: 8. S: 3. T: 7. U: 10. V: 5. W: 5 (4 replaced). X: 5. Y: 5. Z: 5. & 4.

Dimensions:
The box measures: Width: 30.5cm. Depth: 17.9cm. Height: 3.8cm.
The letters vary in size but are approx: 2.3cm x 2cm.

Condition:
4 of the letter W are replaced with handwritten cards. Traces of glue in some sections and corners of the box. Latch of the box missing.  Some light marks to the exterior of the box. Age related wear as expected but overall in good condition. Please examine photos carefully.
