Please find for offer a rare Black Forest carved wood nutcracker in the form of a gnome's head, dating to the late 19th century. This finely carved nutcracker is a rare and amusing type with the his long beard and Phrygian cap forming the handles. A brass hinge allows the head to be opened and closed. Excellent attention to detail with a finely carved face. The piece has an attractive dark colour and patina.

Condition:

Tip of the hat possibly reshaped (see last photo). Age related wear as expected but overall in good condition. Please examine photos carefully.
