Mino tea bowl
Era: Momoyama period
This is a Mino ware tea bowl from the Momoyama period to the early Edo period. It has a dry texture and the glaze shrinks like Kairagi. If this were black, it would have the texture of Seto-guro, a high-quality Koseto tea bowl. This glaze tone is typical of Seto-guro, which is rapidly cooled when removed from the kiln. This is a very rare texture, and such pieces are hard to find. The outer rim around the mouth has indentations similar to a Tenmoku tea bowl, making it well-crafted for use in tea ceremonies. There are parts with "Yobitsugi" (added fragments of other pottery), which contribute to the uniqueness of this tea bowl. Please try making tea with this one-of-a-kind tea bowl that captures the spirit of the Momoyama period.
