Description

Gibson ES-335 Pro '79 Cherry

Since its introduction in 1958, the ES-335TD has reigned as the representative not only of Gibson but also of semi-acoustic guitars. This model is attractive for its easy-to-use sound that can be used in a wide range of applications.

This is the "ES-335 Pro" that appeared in 1979. It adopted the same stop tailpiece and dot position mark as the early ES-335 specifications, and was inherited by the "ES-335 Dot Reissue" after production was completed in 1981.

【body】
Overall weight is approximately 3.4kg. The body has a semi-hollow structure made of familiar maple wood, and the bright cherry color is beautiful. Although there are some weather checks, some dents and scratches, belt buckle marks, and dullness of the metal parts, considering the model year, it can be said to be in very good condition. The model label inside the body has already peeled off and is missing.

【neck】
The wide head shape and maple 3-piece neck have the same specs as the ES-335TD from the same period. Although there is burnt stand on the back of the neck and small dents around the head, it can be said to be in relatively good condition, just like the body. The tuner works well without much variation in winding. The wide and originally low frets are slightly worn, but there are no problems such as extreme sound clogging, and playability is good. Nut width 43.0mm. It features a relatively neat neck shape.

[Electrical system]
The controls are Gibson's traditional orthodox [2 volume/2 tone/pickup selector]. The pickup is equipped with two Gibson high-power humbuckers "Dirty Fingers" with original specifications. POT and output jack have been replaced. It retains the tone typical of traditional Gibson humbuckers, but has a thick clean tone and a powerful and comfortable overdrive sound.
