Beatles 45 1976 PROMO Got to Get You Into My Life with EXTINCT PRESS SHEET, EX!

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

This promo, as well as the “Helter Skelter” 45 promo were sent to radio stations with Capitol-prepared and issued press sheets to be read on-air by the DJ’s, in order to promote Capitol’s latest compilation LP, “Rock and Roll Music.”

By far, the vast majority of these were tossed without being read at all, probably.

Vinyl: EX/EX.  Each side has very few and very minor flaws.  Vinyl looks close to NM, both sides, otherwise.

Labels: VG/NM.  Stereo label has what looks like nail polish, as well as a question mark written small in red ballpoint.  Perhaps a way of marking which was the play side for the station.

Sleeve: EX.  Looks brand new, with the exception of a very small tear on the side 2 die-cut hole.  See photo if you care.

Press Sheet: NM.  One very light ghost crease in bottom corner.  Otherwise, this sheet is razor-sharp flat, NO FINGER DIVOTS.  Full-colored, bold graphics.

A stunner.  Don’t count on finding another one of these at all, much less in this flat condition!

Plates: F1/ F3.  99% of Beatles and related tests were performed by the Los Angeles plant, as was this copy.   Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.

The initials, “WLY” appear, which we nearly always see on Winchester pressings.  I guess our friend “Wally” did the test.

Side 1 dead wax has the “PRO 8402” catalogue number, which of course is not only the number for the promo copies, but it’s also the side containing the MONO mix.  Just like the promo copies, the side 2 dead wax contains the catalogue number for the commercial stereo mix.

I was lucky to have owned one of these.  I have still never found a copy of the “Helter Skelter” press sheet.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
