Car sold with 12 Months MOT - Both Road Tax and MOT exempt
This is quite a find!, this mark one Mini Metro Vanden Plas in Zircon Blue has covered just over fourteen thousand miles and was registered to the previous owner in October 2017 when he brought it from the original owner in the Isle of Man (so V5 shows no previous owner due to car coming across from the Isle of Man)
This is a manual version and having covered such low miles, the car is in remarkable original condition and will delight the new owner.
We have sold a number of Mark 1 Metro's over the years and certainly do our best to offer lovely solid examples that can be enjoyed as with daily drivers, or added to a classic car collection.
The Vanden Plas was the range topping Metro back in the day and being a 1982 car, this is the first year of production for the rare Vanden Plas model. The Mark 1 model is scarce enough these days, but finding an example in this condition with these miles....is quite a rare opportunity.
The car itself has obviously been extremely well cared for and looks to have been garaged since day one!, the car is rock solid in structure and the bodywork is in lovely condition and the interior has survived extremely well too. The car drives ever so well and the 1275cc engine, married up to the 4 speed manual gearbox, make th car a nippy and fun car to drive...the Metro always was a great little driver. These little cars are easy to live with, they fit in smaller sized garages, the hatchback design make for a very practical and highly usable little car.
The car will has been thoroughly inspected in our own classic car garage, and it shall have a further inspection prior to leaving us. We has have a fresh MOT added to the car on sale.

The Austin Metro was introduced in October 1980 with the Vanden Plas being added to the range in April 1982. It was powered by the 'A' series 1275cc 60bhp engine with either a 4-speed all-synchromesh manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission.
Hydragas suspension, rack and pinion steering and servo assisted front disc and rear drum brakes were fitted. Externally the Vanden Plas received bronze tinted glass, laminated windscreen, bright inserts to the front and rear screen rubbers, black wrap around bumpers, bright finished front grille surround with grey central bars, bright finished door and tailgate handles twin door mirrors, coachlines with 'VP' motifs on each rear wing, glass tilting/removeable sunroof, locking fuel filler cap and special black hubcaps with VP motifs and bright trim rings.
Internally the Vanden Plas received 'Raschelle' woven velvet upholstery, door casings, rear quarter cases, front headrest pads and rear armrests, a leather steering wheel, 60/40 split folding rear seat, deep cut-pile carpets, cloth headlining and wood door capping's. Instrumentation included a rev counter and digital clock.
In 1983 the front seats and headrests were redesigned, a new boot lamp was fitted and the rear side windows could now be opened. Engine power was now quoted at 62bhp.
January 1984 saw a leather trim option on the Austin Metro Vanden Plas, a push button tailgate release, remote control for passenger side door mirror and new full diameter styled wheel trims. In late 1984 the Metro Vanden Plas 3-door was replaced by a 5-door version. The front of the car was also restyled and body-coloured moulded bumpers fitted front and back. Central locking became standard as did front electric windows. Box and Plain velvet trim replaced Raschelle and burr walnut inserts were fitted to the redesigned facia and door covers.
