Born in 1930, Alain ASLAN is a painter, illustrator, and sculptor.
He entered the Beaux Arts at the age of 14, met the sculptor CESAR at the age of 16, who would become his friend and was appointed official painter and sculptor of the Army at the age of 22.
He also illustrated children's books from the Pink Library such as Pinocchio, before addressing a slightly older audience...
He who introduced a whole generation to his 'dream creatures' - luscious, titillating and sensual.
From 1953, he created Pin-ups for advertisements of car brands (Fiat, Peugeot, Renault) but also for the posters of the Folies Bergères, the Crazy-Horse Saloon, the Casino de Paris, the Olympia and the 'Alcazar…
He is remembered most for his work for LUI magazine from 1963 to 1981 where, for 18 years, he designed the famous 'pin-up of the month'.
In 1970, he sculpted the bust of Brigitte Bardot as Marianne published by the Louvre Museum and in 1978 that of Mireille Mathieu. In 1987 a stone statue of Dalida for her tomb and a bronze bust for the square that bears her name in Montmartre.
