This listing is for a Trio of Original WW1 Medals with period Manchester Regiment Cap Badge.

All correctly Named to.......'9344....PTE.R.THORLEY.....MANCH.R'.

The Medal Roll, shows that Pte Thorley originally enlisted with the 17th Manchester Regiment. He was later to be seen serving with the 2nd Manchesters'.

The 17th Manchester Regiment, was raised on the 28th of August 1914 by the Lord Mayor of Manchester-Sir Daniel McCabe. It was one of Kitcheners New Armies' 'Pals' Battalions and was aimed at attracting Men who were engaged in commercial business-Such as clerks, etc.

Although Robert Thorleys' Service Records don't appear to have survived,i believe He was born in about 1892 in Manchester and worked as a Salesman. He died in Blackpool,on the 7th of December 1949.Worthy of further research.

All three Medals are in lovely, undamaged condition, with a nice tone. They are unmounted and have no ribbons. The slider on the badge has been bent in the past.

A interesting research project.

Any questions, please ask. Will include copies of the Medal Roll, etc.

Will Post Worldwide-Overseas,by Ebays GSP.
