SUPERB ANTIQUE HAC 8 DAY MAHOGANY PORTICO/BANDSTAND MANTEL CLOCK c1900 GWO

Please make use of the enlarge feature on the photos to view this beautifully maintained and much loved antique mantel clock in all its glory.

Made by the renowned Hamburg American Clock Company (H.A.C.) at the turn of the last century, this beautiful clock is in superb condition. The solid mahogany case features a turned base sat on 4 "squashed bun" feet, with 4 beautifully turned columns, each topped and tailed with brass capitals. The elegant and shapely top is finished off with a wonderful brass finial. The clock movement is housed within the mahogany barrel suspended between the columns, with its ornate original pendulum fully on show as it swings back and forth. It stands 13 inches high, on a base of 6 1/2 inches diameter.

The heart of the clock is a 8 day, key wound movement. This carries the famous "crossed arrows" makers logo of HAC, who despite their name hailed from the heart of the Black Forest of Germany. They were in business from the middle of the 1800s until the 1930s. This clock would date to c1900.

Condition: as I hope the pictures show, it is in superb condition. The mahogany has a wonderful, deep, original colour and finish, while the brass work is bright as a button....much loved, and fully working, complete with a key.

A superb antique clock that will add a perfect focal point to any room.
