ERIC BURDON AND THE ANIMALS

“LOS TWAIN SE REUNIRAN”

(THE TWAIN SHALL MEET)

WOW! WOW! WOW! MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original MGM Records very first High Fidelity MONO press released in Chile in 1968 by Discos Philips (Philips Records), licensed from “MGM Records-A Division Of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, INC.”, catalog number E-4537, with hand etched matrix number SE-4537 SIDE 1 MGS-1364 REV-1 32 in Side 1 and SE-4537 SIDE 2 MGS-1365 37 in Side 2, with unusual white/black MGM Records labels!!! Yes, Sirs, another FIND from Chile!!!

“THE TWAIN SHALL MEET” was originally released in April 1968 in USA and late the same year we got this great album released here in Chile and like in most of the cases of that period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER, so usual in Chile those years, made of a single piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle faking a gatefold cover and kept inside a plastic outer bag. If you know this album (and you can check it in this link: http://www.discogs.com/Eric-Burdon-The-Animals-The-Twain-Shall-Meet/master/68819) you will have noticed that we got in Chile an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, a black and white picture of the face of Eric Burdon with name of the band, album title and all text written in English only. Back cover is totally different too, it has the name of the band written in English, album title written in Spanish only, the tracklist written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters and timing of each song, with a short review about Eric Burdon, MGM Records logo at left top corner and catalog number at right top corner. It’s interesting to notice that in Chile we got the same US catalog number, E-4537, for this MONO issue, but matrix numbers correspond to the US Stereo issue!!! Yes Sirs, here in Chile matrix numbers show this record is Stereo but that’s wrong, it’s MONO!!! If this is not an error then we could think that here in Chile they pressed Mono records direct from the US Stereo master!!! WOW!!! In labels the name of the band is written in English only, the album title and tracklist are written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters, no timing. In labels you can also see the original Stereo US MGM matrix numbers with the MONO catalog number!!! You can also see an error, the first song in the record, correctly translated to Spanish, “MONTERREY”, isn’t translated in back cover, “Monterey”!!! So, yes Sirs, one more time a MEGARARE RECORD with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, a MONO ISSUE WITH STEREO MATRIX NUMBERS (!!!), UNIQUE ERROR and with WHITE MGM RECORDS LABELS!!! ANOTHER GREAT FIND that you can’t miss!!! WOW!!! Amazing find and A MUST TO HAVE for all British Invasion and specially Eric Burdon and The Animals collectors!!! And WHAT A GREAT CONDITION!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, clean and clear, with some wear in all edges and corners, with some little rips and the right top corner broken but repaired from some past owner, no ring marks, no writings, some creases and age browning in back cover. The record is in strong EX or EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with only soft scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all, no scratches. Labels are in superb NM- or NM condition both sides, clean and clear, with some spindle hole wear and minimal age browning in Side 1. The sound is in strong EX+ or NM- condition both sides, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only minimal occasional soft crackles, hard to hear if you are not looking for them, which of course don’t cause any distraction to enjoy this album from the beginning to the end. Overall, this record is still in a great condition, with a very nice cover, almost immaculate labels and amazing sound quality after about 56 years, which won’t disappoint anyone, with no distortions, no skips, no repetitions at all!!! And the most important, remember this record has an UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, album title and tracklist written in Spanish, UNIQUE MATRIX NUMBER ERROR and WHITE LABELS, which you won’t find in any other edition worldwide!!! What a find!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
