ARETHA FRANKLIN
“HEY NOW HEY (THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SKY)”
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original
Atlantic Records very first STEREO press released in Chile in 1975 by Atlantic
Records, made and distributed by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA” M.R.
(ASFONA Records), catalog number SD 7265, with hand etched matrix numbers SD-7265-A
EB-C in Side A and SD-7265-B EB-C in Side B, with traditional red/black Atlantic
Records labels of the period, with big boxed “Atlantic” logo. It’s interesting
to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of
pressing, “1°-4-75” (April 1st of 1975) in Side A, and “7-5-75” (May
5th of 1975) in Side B. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!
“Hey Now Hey (The Other Side Of The Sky)” was
originally released in USA in June 1973, and we had to wait until 1975 to get his
album released here in Chile and, like usual in the period, we got it with an
UNIQUE NON-GATEFOLD FLIPBACK COVER, made of two single pieces of thin cardboard
with front cover pasted on the flaps of back cover. Front cover keeps strictly
the original US artwork, with the double drawing of Aretha Franklin, which can
be shown to read the name “Aretha” at top left corner or inverted to see the
album title, written in English only, at top left corner, the only difference is
that in Chile it’s the rounded “ASFONA” logo at bottom left corner. Back cover
also keeps the original US artwork but in Chile, inside the box, it’s the full
text of original inner cover, written in English only, with full credits for
songwriters, publishers and play time of each song, with additional credits for
guest musicians in some songs, with full information about recording and
production, with small boxed Atlantic Records logo and catalog number at top
right corner. In labels, album title and tracklist are written in English only,
with full credits for songwriters of each song. It’s interesting to notice that
in back cover the sides are identified as “Side One” and “Side Two”, but in
labels they are only “A” and “B”. So, here you have the chance
to get and own this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE NON-GATEFOLD COVER and
UNIQUE BACK COVER design, a record almost never seen and maybe auctioned here
in eBay by the very first time!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers
and collectors of Jazz and R&B and Soul/Funk music and especially for all
fans, lovers and collectors of Aretha Franklin and Quincy Jones, Billy Preston
or Phil Woods, who participated in this record!!!
The cover was already
described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, clean and clear, with some
wear in all edges, more evident in corners, with faint creases, moderate ring
marks in back cover, evident age browning and blemishes, marks of humidity,
micro tears, but still complete and without seam splits, which’s a real miracle
for this so fragile kind of cover and considering this record has been played a
lot. The record is in nice VG or even VG+ condition both sides, glossy and
clean, with many scuffs, light hairlines and some soft small scratches, which
don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in absolute EX+ or NM-
condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong
VG- or even VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clear, virtually no
background noise (background noise was normal in most of records pressed in
Chile), with constant light crackles and regular soft and in parts not so soft
clicks, more evident in the silent parts, which could cause some distraction but
the music keeps loud and clean from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is
a great record in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE NON-GATEFOLD COVER, for
sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, that’s a fact, but it still has a nice
complete cover, with the record still with a very nice glossy look, almost
immaculate labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 49
years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious
collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean record!!! Just try
to remember how many times have you seen this record before, A MUST TO HAVE no matter
the condition!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and
see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG”
most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or
“Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in
professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a
little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can
use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this
grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record
itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound
quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing
the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or
poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but
there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which
doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or
creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but
displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface
marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra
items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has
noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The
cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits,
discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for
properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface
noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is
unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the
buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers
say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not
fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the
payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive
feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who
receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
