Memorial Collector's Edition

This is a Easton Press printing of Frank Herbert's classic book Dune. It is the Memorial Collector's Edition that was released in 1987 and contains a section of Remembrances of Frank Herbert (who died in 1986) by many of science fictions top writers of the time.  Those who included their memories of Frank Herbert were Poul Anderson, Isaac Asimov, Ben Bova, Ray Bradbury, Charles Brown, F. M. Busby, Harlan Ellison, Philip Jose Farmer, James Gunn, Joe Haldeman, David Hartwell, Peter Israel, Willis McNelly, Frederic Pohl, and Jack Vance.

This beautiful edition from the Easton Press has 520 pages and is bound in red leather, with edges in gilt and includes a silk ribbon bookmark. It also comes with the original "Collector Notes" as shown above and also includes an unused Easton Press "The Masterpieces of Science fiction" bookplate.
The book itself is in very good condition, nice, tight and clean with a light scuff on the rear cover as shown in the 2nd and 3rd picture above. There is also some light shelf wear at bottom edge of boards. Pages 11 through 16 (comprising of 3 sheets) have light creases at the upper tips. Also on the front cover there is a tiny bit of gilt that flaked off the letter E in the title DUNE. Most collector's wouldn't mind these minor flaws.

Dune won the Hugo and Nebula awards for best scifi novel in 1966.

A great book for anyone who is interested in collecting vintage science fiction books.
