For sale is an Audiovox SMT 5600 Microsoft Windows based smartphone. This phone is probably one of the very first Windows based smartphones made. It's amazingly compact and feature rich for its day. Yeah, iPhone eventually kicked their ass, but to be expected. It was a bit clunky to use.

This will come with all the books, CD-ROM, patch cord, headset, charger, phone, removable battery, and belt holster (remember those?!). The phone itself is still protected by protective film (see photos). These were given to our dev shop so we could get apps ported for the phone. However, we ultimately did not go that path and so these ended up unused.

A couple of things to note. First, the box is the commercial launch box, but the phone was provided to me as a pre-launch evaluation copy. So the box IMEI won't match the phone. I would typically be given these prototypes in a generic bubble wrap envelope only (again pre-production). Second, when you boot it, the opening title screen with either say "Not for Sale" or "Evaluation Purposes Only" for obvious reasons.

This isn't intended for someone to buy and use a as phone. In fact, you can't register/activate this on any North American cell network because of how old the technology is. This is really aimed at the vintage cell phone collector. And having one that's preproduction is far rarer than a production one. And, is this pristine condition... hard to find.
